Dear Sister,
Don't Be The Fawn
Poster
Conceived in 2017, MIXTYPE was a project I initiated to cross-pollinate the fields of graphic design and music through collaborative, community-driven work, and was co-facilitated with Ron Beltrame. Cambrian College Graphic Design students, alumni, and faculty partnered with local musicians to create hand-rendered typographic posters inspired by original song lyrics. Hosted by Makers North and Cambrian College at the former Open Studio, the event culminated in a silent auction that raised $1,000, with 100% of proceeds donated to the Blue Door Soup Kitchen.
In addition to initiating the project, I had the opportunity to create a few posters myself, including the piece featured here, based on lyrics from The Wolf by local musician Jennifer Holub, a powerful and unsettling song that reflects on the lived realities of sexual assault, the pervasive sense of vigilance placed on women, and the emotional struggle to seek justice in its aftermath.
