Don't Buy Love Campaign
Packaging
Some projects arrive as more than a design challenge; they stay with you long after the work is finished.
This campaign was initiated by the local neighbourhood group Angels of Hope to raise awareness of child trafficking in Sudbury, Ontario, and support efforts to combat it. Donor boxes were created for purchase for Valentine's Day, with proceeds going toward this work.
The challenge was to communicate a deeply serious subject within a format associated with love and gift-giving. A series of illustrations were developed, built around puzzle pieces and hearts, using the idea of something missing — and the possibility of a piece being returned — to speak to loss, hope, and healing without depicting the realities of trafficking directly or literally. The resulting box wrap balances the campaign's difficult subject matter with a sense of warmth and hope, allowing the boxes to function both as Valentine's Day objects and as a conversation starter around an issue that is often difficult to see and discuss.

The four panels offer a small narrative of loss, hope, and possibility. Rather than depicting the realities of trafficking directly, the imagery focuses on what can be protected, restored, and made whole — reflecting the campaign's emphasis on awareness, prevention, and hope.
